A Soft Place to Land:
A Portrait Experience to Honor Your Dog
I’M FEATURING 10 DOGS IN THIS SERIES.
WILL YOUR DOG BE ONE OF THEM?
This has been a hard year for so many of us
As many of you know, my Mom passed away in November. My Mom was my best friend. We spoke every day. I don’t have words to explain how broken my heart is and how much I miss her.
And through all of it, my dog Lou Reed has been my soft place to land.
His steady breath when I forget to breathe. The warmth of his small body curled beside me. The way he just seems to get it.
In December, I lost Lou for two horrific hours that felt like an eternity. My dear friend Matt miraculously found him running down International Boulevard— right before he found him I remember thinking this was a double whammy I wasn’t sure I would make it out of.
My dog kept me human.
This is what inspired A Soft Place to Land.
I want to hear your story. How has your dog held you through the hard stuff?
How does your dog create a soft place for you to land?
This limited portrait experience will honor the dogs who have seen us through our most human moments.
If this feels like your story, I hope you’ll share it with me.
The love and trust of your dog is

“Ellen. Is. AMAZING!!! Seriously, even my crazy 60 pound Staffie, who has severe fear-aggression issues towards strangers LOVED her from the beginning! She will take all the time needed to get “the” right shot! She’s also very creative and did what she needed to get it perfect... I’m so glad I met her and got to experience her work, you will NOT be disappointed.”
“If you are looking for a photographer who is literally a dog-whisperer...who instinctively knows how to bring out your dog’s unique personality in each photo taken. Who not just “takes photos,” but inspires and creates. Who is professional, caring, compassionate, fun-loving, and dares to be creative and think outside the box...hands down, work with Ellen Shershow. You will be beyond amazed!”
“Ellen is a pure joy to work with. Ellen has some sort of innate talent to establish a friendly rapport with your dog & put him/her at ease almost immediately. Ellen has a lot of tricks up her sleeve to bring out the playful, the regal, the goofy, the whatever personality of your dog in a portrait, & we were simply amazed at how gorgeous her final photos were.”
The Photographer: Ellen Shershow
I believe that dogs are the world's greatest creatures. They are slobbery and kooky and soulful and precious. When I create a portrait of your dog, I’m not just taking a picture; I’m creating an art piece that brings out the personality of your fur child. You will walk away with several pieces of fine art that will last a lifetime.
