Dog.
Reframed.
The world sees our dogs and cats in the background of our lives.
For us, they are center stage.
Their familiar gestures, a look, a lean, the quiet decision to stay close, the moment they ‘choose’ our laps, are to animal people, never insignificant.
This work reimagines those everyday moments with our fur children as something larger: a reflection of the comfort, connection, and and love that helps us move through our lives.
We are photographing the fur children of California who frame our lives.

The dogs who can fart with dignity
The dogs and cats who take excellent care of their genitals
The reason your day just got the tiniest bit better
Why your fur child matters
Some days are terrible, horrible, no good and very bad. The emails, the news, the topsy turvy world. And then there’s your fur child.
Celebrating your very existence.
Reframing your horrible, no good, very bad day.
“Ellen. Is. AMAZING!!! Seriously, even my crazy 60 pound Staffie, who has severe fear-aggression issues towards strangers LOVED her from the beginning! She will take all the time needed to get “the” right shot! She’s also very creative and did what she needed to get it perfect... I’m so glad I met her and got to experience her work, you will NOT be disappointed.”
“If you are looking for a photographer who is literally a dog-whisperer...who instinctively knows how to bring out your dog’s unique personality in each photo taken. Who not just “takes photos,” but inspires and creates. Who is professional, caring, compassionate, fun-loving, and dares to be creative and think outside the box...hands down, work with Ellen Shershow. You will be beyond amazed!”
“Ellen is a pure joy to work with. Ellen has some sort of innate talent to establish a friendly rapport with your dog & put him/her at ease almost immediately. Ellen has a lot of tricks up her sleeve to bring out the playful, the regal, the goofy, the whatever personality of your dog in a portrait, & we were simply amazed at how gorgeous her final photos were.”
The Photographer: Ellen Shershow
I believe that dogs are the world's greatest creatures. They are slobbery and kooky and soulful and precious. When I create a portrait of your dog, I’m not just taking a picture; I’m creating an art piece that brings out the personality of your fur child. You will walk away with several pieces of fine art that will last a lifetime.
